Returns, Refunds & Claims Policy

Akasha Furniture and Homewares

This policy outlines the terms and conditions relating to returns, refunds, cancellations, and claims for goods supplied by Akasha Furniture and Homewares (“Akasha”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).


1. No Change of Mind

We do not accept returns, exchanges, or refunds for change of mind under any circumstances.


2. Custom & Special Orders

All custom-made, made-to-order, or special-order items are strictly non-refundable, non-exchangeable, and non-cancellable once an order has been confirmed.


3. Damaged or Faulty Goods

If any item is received damaged or faulty, a replacement may be considered subject to the following conditions:

  • Akasha must be notified within 24 hours of receipt of the goods via email at ritika@akashafurniture.com.au
  • The claim must include:
    • Customer name and invoice number
    • Product details, including item code
    • Clear images of the damaged or faulty item(s)
    • A written description of the fault or damage

Failure to provide the above information within the required timeframe may result in the claim being declined.


4. Natural Characteristics of Products

Many of our products are handcrafted and hand-finished, resulting in natural variations in colour, texture, grain, and finish.

By purchasing from Akasha, you acknowledge and accept that:

  • Each item is unique
  • Variations and natural imperfections are inherent characteristics of the product
  • Changes may occur over time due to light exposure and general use

These characteristics do not constitute faults or defects and are not valid grounds for a return, refund, or claim.

At our sole discretion, and with prior written approval from Akasha head office, a remedy (including repair, exchange, or refund) may be considered depending on the extent of the issue.

Approved returns will be at the customer’s expense and processed in accordance with this policy.


5. Marble & Natural Stone Disclaimer

Marble and natural stone are natural materials and are inherently subject to variations in colour, veining, texture, pattern, and finish.

By purchasing marble or natural stone products from Akasha Furniture and Homewares, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Each piece is unique and may differ from images, samples, or display items
  • Natural markings, veins, pits, fissures, and surface variations are inherent characteristics
  • The appearance of the material may change over time due to use, cleaning, and exposure to light

No guarantee or warranty is provided on marble or natural stone products in relation to:

  • Colour consistency
  • Veining or pattern
  • Surface finish or natural markings
  • Long-term appearance or performance

These characteristics and changes are not considered faults or defects and do not qualify for any return, refund, exchange, or claim.


6. Claims & Notification Period

All complaints, claims, or notifications regarding:

  • Lost goods
  • Incomplete orders
  • Goods damaged in transit
  • Goods not complying with the purchase order

must be submitted in writing within fourteen (14) business days from the invoice date.

Failure to notify within this period will result in the goods being deemed accepted, the claim being denied, and full payment remaining payable.


7. Cancellations

All cancellations must be submitted in writing (via email).

  • Orders remain valid until written cancellation is received and confirmed by Akasha
  • Orders already packed, ready for dispatch, or collection will incur a minimum 20% restocking fee
  • Cancellations are subject to approval at Akasha’s sole discretion

Akasha reserves the right to cancel any order, including but not limited to the following reasons:

  • Breach of terms and conditions
  • Non-response to communication
  • Declined or rejected payments

8. Third-Party Claims

Akasha will only deal directly with the original purchaser.

We do not accept claims from third parties or returns/claims lodged by customers of our customers.


9. Customer-Arranged Freight

Where the customer elects to arrange their own courier, freight, or third-party transport, Akasha Furniture and Homewares accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, delay, or mishandling of goods once the items have been collected from our premises.

All risk in the goods passes to the customer upon collection by their nominated courier or transport provider.

Akasha will not accept any claims, returns, or compensation requests for damages or losses incurred during transit where delivery has been arranged by the customer.


10. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.

Where required by law, Akasha will provide remedies including repair, replacement, or refund.
